Abstract:
From July 1992 until July 1994 continuous measurements of the exchange ofammonia between the atmosphere and grazed pasture were performed at Zegveld,
Netherlands. The main objective was to investigate the contribution of
pastures to the export of ammonia from an intensive livestock breeding area
to sensitive receptor areas. In this framework, the following aspects of
ammonia exchange were studied: total net exchange on annual and seasonal
scales, compatibility of measured exchange with emission estimates based on
land-use data and emission factors, influence of SO2, NH4NO3 and of HNO3
on ammonia exchange, and parameterization of the exchange process. 27 figs.,
6 tabs., 77 refs.
