Abstract:
During the period January 1996 through November 1998 the JOULE IIIproject 'Development of a design tool for structural reliability analyses of
wind turbine components' (PRODETO) has been carried out. The main objectives
of this project were: (1) Development of a computer code for wind turbine
manufacturers and certifying bodies to be used partly as a tool for
structural reliability analyses of wind turbine components and partly as a
safety factors calibration tool. The computer code will apply to fatigue
failure mainly and should be able to handle both measured and calculated
10-minutes load series; (2) Transfer of knowledge about structural
reliability analyses and how to calibrate safety factors to manufacturers
(WCON and Aerpac) and certifying bodies (CIWI in the Netherlands via ECN, DW
in Denmark and Germanischer Lloyd in Germany); and (3) Extension of
structural reliability methods to analyse ultimate loads and ultimate
strength instead of fatigue only. 5 refs.
