Abstract:
This review report concerns the manufacturing of layered supportstructures for inorganic pervaporation and gas separation membranes by dip
coating. The manufacturing of a ceramic layer on a porous support by dip
coating is a processing step where the principles of colloidal processing are
very important in order to achieve layers with few defects. In this review
the mechanisms of layer formation on porous substrates using dip coating,
colloidal filtration and film coating are explained. Practical aspects of the
dip coating method are extensively dealt with. 87 refs.
