Abstract:
Better knowledge of wind turbine behaviour in the atmosphere and assessment of performance of wind turbines under various atmospheric conditions is pushing for increased accuracy in wind speed measurements. The European project ACCUWIND has the goal to improve cup and sonic anemometers for average wind speed measurements. The objective of the project is to improve tools and methods to assess the accuracy of cup and sonic anemometers in wind energy measurements by development and implementation of procedures for calibration, field comparison, benchmark tests and classification on the one hand. On the other hand, the objective is to define measured wind speed for power performance measurements in a consistent way, so that uncertainties of wind speed sensors can be reduced.
