Abstract:
The energy savings realised in the Netherlands in the 1995-2004 period are presented in this report. Figures were calculated according to the Dutch ‘Protocol on Monitoring Energy Savings’ (PME) where ‘energy savings’ are defined as the ‘performance of the same activities or the same functions with less energy’. The most important outcome for this period was the national saving of 1,0%, with the highest figures found in agriculture (1.5%). The lowest figures came from savings in transport at 0.3%. Without these energy savings the energy use in 2004 would have been 9% higher than
at present. Furthermore, in an uncertainty analysis the margin of savings is limited to 0.3% point, which puts the ‘real’ savings between 0.7% and 1.3%. With the official target in Dutch policy at 1.3%, this target value has yet to be achieved.
