Abstract:
The refinery model SERUM is part of a wider array of models that are used for modelling the Dutch National Energy Outlook. This combination of models and their common database is applied for projections and scenarios for future energy use and emissions. The Dutch Refining industry is modelled with an LP model for the techno-economic analysis of refining operations. Its applications lie in scenarios for future energy use, and assessing the effects of new regulatory standards for fuel emissions or new refining technologies. The effects on refining energy requirements and emissions are the main goals in these analyses. This report gives a model overview of SERUM, and its interactions with other models as well as it provides some detailed information on the architecture of the refinery model.
