Abstract:
This study explores the gas security of supply position of the Netherlands. More specifically, the focus is on the ability of the Dutch gas system to deal with peak gas demand and gas supply in-terruptions. We first quantitatively assess the peak demand and supply capacity situation for the Netherlands and then assess the different options available to market actors to cover gas demand in the short run. Furthermore, the study includes a limited market consultation on the issue at stake. Based on our findings we draft a number of policy recommendations aimed at improving the Dutch gas security of supply position.
