Abstract:
Local energy and climate policy receives increased attention in recent years. The goal of this research is to acquire more in depth knowledge about the effects of such policy and to gain relevant insights from experiences in other countries for policy making in the Netherlands. Four practice examples in the field of energy in the built environment and four practice examples of local sustainable energy production have been researched, on aspects such as initiative, organization, financing, effects, energy saving potential, and key success factors and bottlenecks. General and specific conclusions and lessons are drawn from the findings, for local governments as well as for the Central government separately.
