Abstract:
This publication contains the results of an analysis of the potential market value of three alternatives for the large-scale storage of electricity in the Netherlands: Inverse offshore pump accumulation station (‘Energy Island’), compressed air energy storage (CAES) and power-to-gas (P2G). The potential revenues of the three alternatives on both the day-ahead and the balancing market are estimated using an electricity market simulation model developed at ECN.
