Abstract:
Renewable sources in the Dutch province of Flevoland cover more than 50% of its energy consumption . In 2020 the province wants to be energy neutral, with the exception of transport fuel. After 2020 the Province wants to extend its leading position. Therefore the province asked ECN to develop 2 scenarios for 2050.

1. A maximum scenario in which the maximum potential for energy efficiency and renewable energy is described. 2. An energy neutral scenario in which the total supply of renewable energy equals the energy demand in 2050. Two versionsversion have been developed by ECN: an economic optimum and a spatial optimum.

This study has been done in close collaboration with Ecorys and Posad. Parallel to this study, they analyzed the economic, societal and spatial impact of the different scenarios. For sake of comparability, the three institutes synchronized the inputs and boundary conditions.
