Abstract:
The technological status of a-Si, CuInSe2, CdTe, f-Si and nc-TiO2 solarcells is evaluated according to a new method that was developed together with
the Novem. Costs per Wp, producibility, environmental and health concerns,
efficiency, life expectation, applicability, and resources are evaluated.
Weighing of these criteria according to their assumed importance results in a
ranking of the expectations towards these technologies. The result of this
evaluation is that no real winners or losers can be identified at this stage.
a-Si, f-Si, and nc-TiO2 have a somewhat better perspective than CuInSe2 and
CdTe. It should be mentioned, however, that the environmental and health
aspects were considered to be very important. 11 figs., 16 tabs., 301 refs.,
