Abstract:
The causes of the cold indoor climate of the title church have beeninvestigated and options to improve the indoor climate are suggested. It
appeared that large air leakages, in particular in the roof construction had
a strong cooling effect. The cold window surfaces caused additional heat
losses. From the results of computer simulations it was concluded that extra
heating capacity would have a contrary effect while increase of the
temperature difference would result in stronger air flow. It is recommended
to construct a separation between the ridge and the lower living environment
in order to reduce the thermal flow as well as the draught. The existing
floor heating supplies the largest part of the heat for the church which
makes extra heating relatively simple. The church council decided to
implement the changes as suggested by ECN. 4 refs.
