Abstract: This report investigates the possible impact of European 2030 climate and energy targets on the Netherlands. The analyses start with defining and quantifying the possible targets with regard to GHG-emissions, renewable energy and energy consumption. The calculation of the impacts include several targets and combinations of targets, and results in indicative societal costs. Other impact investigated include employment and dependency on foreign energy resources. The report concludes with a qualitative assessment of the 2030 targets, specifically addressing the pros and cons of combined targets within the broader context of the European long-term 2050 ambitions.
