Abstract:
Insight is given into the optimal energy infrastructure for the districtSchalkwijk in Haarlem, Netherlands. Schalkwijk, mainly built in the sixties
and the seventies, is going to be reconstructed in the coming decade. The
policy of Haarlem is to reduce the energy consumption in a structural way.
The opportunities are to build solar houses to replace obsolete buildings, to
renovate the housing stock and to reconstruct the traffic system. Also, the
new area in the northern part of the district and the central part, which
consists of offices, shops and a hospital, requires special attention
