Abstract:
With compression resorption heat pumps, CRHP, it is possible to obtain a larger temperature lift and a higher temperature level than with conventional compression heat pumps. For a good performance of the CRHP, it is important to effectively use the T-glides of the working mixture. The CRHP systems can best be applied in industrial processes with a simultaneous sensible cooling and heating demand and a pinch temperature between 50 and 100 °C. Energy can be saved, compared to conventional heating and cooling systems, when the COP heating of a CRHP is >2.An economical evaluation shows a specific investment cost of about 1100 hfl/kW and a pay back period of more than 10 years with the present energy prizes in the Netherlands.
CRHP systems are not available on the market yet, due to a lack of efficient absorbers, desorbers and compressors for an ammonia/water mixture.
