Abstract:
An aeroelastic wind turbine optimization code has been developed andapplied in practice. A new aerodynamic and structural rotor design, optimized
for minimum cost of generated energy, has been established. The aeroelastic
optimization results in 10% reduction of the fatigue loads and a 1% lower
cost of generated energy compared with a stationary optimized rotor. Due to
limited scope of the title study larger reductions of loads and costs have
not been realized but will be possible. 16 refs.
