Abstract:
A round robin acoustic measurement campaign has been performed by fiveproject partners using one and the same wind turbine (WT). The measurement
procedure for the round robin exercise was agreed to be in compliance with
the IEA-recommended practices on WT-noise emission measurements and the
measured characteristics were agreed to be the apparent sound power level and
the tonality, both measured at the reference measurement position. The
measurements performed by ECN resulted in an A-weighted sound power level of
the TACKE TW500/37 wind turbine in Hooksiel, Germany, of 95.8 dB(A) at a wind
speed of 5.5 m/s at reference conditions. The tonality assessment of the
sound pressure at 50 m down wind of the turbine resulted in a difference
between the maximum tone level and the masking noise level of 2.4 dB. This
characterizes the noise as 'prominent'. 2 refs.
