Abstract:
The experiment R287 (CHARIOT) is part of material program to teststainless steel of different types and has been irradiated in the HFR Petten.
This report presents the final metrology results obtained from activation
monitors in the specimen holder, coded as R287-02, and irradiated in a TRIO
type capsule in HFR position G7. Data about the helium production as well as
the number of displacements per atom are included. The aim of the irradiation
of specimen holder R287-02 was to reach a maximum damage level of 2.5 dpa for
the loaded specimens at a temperature of 300 deg C. The main results of the
thermal and fast neutron fluence measurements, indicate that the obtained
levels in the steel specimen holder range from 1.9 to 3.2 dpa. Detailed data
are presented in tables 2, 3 and 4 as well as in figures 2 to 8 inclusive.
Contrary to the target operation temperature of 300 deg C, the measured
median temperature of the CT-specimens during irradiation ranged between 295
and 335 deg C. The irradiation temperature of the miniaturized Charpy
specimens, coupons, TEM disks and mini tensile specimens is still under
discussion. The originally calculated median temperatures for these type of
specimens are between 324 and 358 deg C, which seems to be too high. 23 refs.
