Abstract:
Closed (non-steady state) chamber measurements are often used to determine the gas exchange of N2O. Many researchers have addressed the underestimation of the emission estimates obtained from closed chamber measurements when using linear regression methods. Several theoretical models are given in the literature, which are all based on different assumptions.
In this study, an overview is given of the available theoretical models with their assumptions. It will be shown that the amount of underestimation is mainly dependent on the air porosity and the chamber height. Recommendations will be given for the calculation method of static chamber measurements. In addition, suggestions will be given for correcting static chamber flux data calculated by linear regression.
