        Abstract:
Radiant surface burners have been used to enhance heat transfer bychanging the burner radiance spectrum in order to better match with the
absorption spectrum of a load. It appeared, both theoretically and
experimentally, that for loads like paper, only small improvements (less than
10%) are possible. For practical applications this probably reduces to only a
few percent. Flue gas radiation turned out to have a large effect on radiant
heat transfer. 11 figs., 9 refs.
