Abstract:
After demonstration of the principle of a new product for wasteisolation, the 'self-forming and self-repairing seal', the geomechanical
properties of the material were tested and testing at larger scale was
carried out. The seals 'self-form' through micro-scale diffusion and reaction
processes, leading to the filling of soil pores with precipitate. Rupture of
the seal results in further diffusion and precipitation, leading to
'self-repair'. The latter aspect has also been subject of study in different
ways. 5 figs., 1 tab., 16 refs.
