Abstract:
In addition to the nowadays
widely applied compression heat pumps, there are more principles with
interesting performance on which a heat pump can be designed. Two of
these principles are developed at ECN, based on a solid sorption system
and a thermoacoustic system. This article describes the operation principle
and application of these concepts as heat pump and cooling machine.
Both systems have unique properties that lead to low maintenance costs
and a wide range of applications in both heat and cold production.
