Abstract:
Modern gas turbines extensively employ air cooling to reach high turbineinlet temperatures. However, cooling causes losses in the gas turbine cycle. The use of carbon-fibre reinforced carbon composites in turbine blades allows operation at very high temperatures without the cooling losses. The sensitivity of the carbon composites to the presence of oxygen requires a fuel-rich atmosphere, which is created in the first stage of the Chemical Gas Turbine. This paper deals with the thermodynamics of a combined-cycle plant based on the Chemical Gas Turbine. The cycle was evaluated and optimized, and a basic exergy analysis was carried out. The results showed a high efficiency of the proposed cycle and indicated ways for further improvement. 7 refs.
