Abstract:
The activities carried out in 1998 for the development of internationalstandards for wind turbines are discussed. The work was done within the
framework of the tasks put forward by the Technical Committee IEC TC88 and
the BTTF-83-2. ECN and the Delft University of Technology participated on
request of the national standards committee NEC88. With respect to TC88,
contributions have been made in the working groups WG5 (Acoustic Noise
Measurement Techniques), WG6 (Power Performance Testing), WG7 (Safety of Wind
Turbines), WG8 (Testing of rotor blades), WG9 (Certification systems) and
WG11 (Mechanical Load Measurements), in the project team PT1 (Lightning
Protection) and in the TC88 Committee. The working groups 8, 9 and 11 have
delivered a committee draft in 1998. For the development of European
Standards, ECN participated in the activities of Cenelec BTTF 83-2 and its
working group WG4 (Acoustic noise Measurements). A workshop has been
organised on standardisation and certification. An increasing number of
parties is interested in the development of new standards and the revision of
existing standards. The Dutch contribution to the international committees is
