Abstract:
This study explores particularly the options for more flexibility at the supply side of the electricity system, with special interest to the role of biomass in preservation, flexibility and integration of the energy system as a whole. In addition, the study analyses the implications of a growing need for flexibility for (i) the reliability and affordability of the energy system, (ii) the opportunities for Dutch firms and knowledge institutes, and (iii) the role and agenda of the Top Sector Energy with regard to the theme system integration.
