Abstract:
Within the framework of the technology development program for residentialmicro-cogeneration applications in the Netherlands, system assessment
studies are conducted. This report describes typical residential electricity
and heat demand levels and patterns for individual households in the
Netherlands. By installing natural gas fuelled co-generation equipment,
based on Stirling, gas engine or fuel cell technologies, to fulfill
the residential energy demands, a savings potential for primary energy
and emissions reduction is created.
An overview is given of the micro-scale, natural gas fuelled technology
options that are currently under development, and design considerations
in order to utilize the savings potential to a high degree. A SWOT analysis
describes the strengths, weaknesses, as well as opportunities and threats.
