Presented at: AGM 'Assessment of data bases on energy demand and supply in terms of their adequacy for use in studies of greenhouse gas emissions, Vienna, Austria, 5-7 april 1993.

Abstract:
Determination of greenhouse gas emissions is a basic step in addressing the global greenhouse issue. The carbon content of fossil fuels largely determines CO2 emissions. Fossil fuel consumption is reported in energy statistics. This paper discusses methods to use energy and other statistics to calculate CO2 emissions, with special reference to carbon flows in non-energy use and chemical feedstocks and the implications of CO2 removal.
