Abstract:
The top layer of the sludge on the bottom of the harbor Elburg,Netherlands, is removed by means of dredging. The aim of the study on the
title subject was to determine the effect of the sanitation on the in-situ
pH-value, the redox potential (EH)and metal concentrations in the pore water
of the water soil. Both parameters have large impacts on the mobility, and
thus the leachability, of metals. Removal of the sludge layer can result in
changes of those parameters and a shift of the leaching balance of metals
between the sludge and the pore water. 3 appendices, 6 refs.
