Abstract:
This is an abridged concept proposal that outlines a Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Action (NAMA) for accelerating geothermal power development in Kenya. The NAMA, which the Government of Kenya has submitted to the UNFCCC registry, will build on existing and on-going efforts to support the transformation of the Kenyan geothermal sector such that private sector investment and participation is scaled-up in a significant manner. It has been developed under the MitigationMomentum project on behalf of the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum (MoEP) and Ministry of Environment, Water and Natural Resources (MEWNR) of Kenya. This abridged version of the proposal outlines the concept for the NAMA to potential international supporters.
